The brazing torch comes back longer and stronger!
Building on the success earlier this year of our first brazing course, which was held at the Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold-Chain (ACES) in Kigali, Rwanda, the Clean Cooling Network’s Clean Cooling Academy is pleased to announce that it is now relaunching the training in a redesigned format. This new version puts a stronger emphasis on brazing as a foundational skill for anyone working in the cooling sector, is longer and more accessible, and has a greater focus on developing practical, hands-on skills.
The new course is particularly tailored to give learning access to those in the refrigeration sector who don’t have a technical background but are willing to embrace their learning journey towards mastering this new skill. Importantly, it puts emphasis on alignment with the EN 378 – the European standard for safety and environmental requirements in refrigeration systems.
According to our technical expert Craig Girdlestone: "EN 378 places strong emphasis on leak prevention, material compatibility, pressure resistance, and risk management, all of which start with how components are joined, especially through brazing."
The training time has been increased by 50%, with greater support on the basics of brazing and associated health and safety learning in interactive classrooms. Improved efficiency and carefully redesigned delivery enable us to accommodate more students while offering increased expert led hands-on experience through optimised group sizes, strengthening the focus on practical skills.
"We are proud to make brazing training open and relevant for all." said Dr Carol Verheecke-Vaessen, Training Lead at the Clean Cooling Network. "The longer format gives participants more time to master techniques, while the new structure makes it possible for more students to benefit. This is about giving everyone the opportunity to light the torch."
The training will take place over a period of 1 week (5 business days) through 3 afternoon sessions, allowing an inclusive learning environment, promoting learning around work commitments, and the first opportunity to take advantage of this new course will be in November and December of this year.
