Fridge competition rules

Terms and conditions

1. Eligibility and Entry

  • The competition is free to enter and open to all individuals, 18 years of age and under, except those directly connected to the Clean Cooling Network (CCN).
  • Submissions are open from 8th October to 30th November 2025.
  • By submitting, you confirm acceptance of these rules and grant ACES permission to use your submission in exhibitions, publications, media, and online platforms with credit to the artist

2. File Handling and Responsibility

  • ACES will handle all files responsibly and securely, but cannot be held liable for:
    • Corrupted, incomplete, or lost files
    • Technical failures during file upload or submission
  • Entrants are responsible for ensuring that files are complete, readable, and properly formatted at the time of upload.

3. Judging and Prizes

  • The decision of the judging panel is final.
  • The winner will be selected randomly from all entries.
  • Prizes:
    • For the student with the winning fridge, a voucher for RWF 50,000.
    • For the school class of the winning student, a Fire HD 8 Plus tablet, 8" HD display, 64 GB, together with a protective case.
  • Winners will be announced in December 2025 at the ACES campus in Rubirizi.

4. Image Rights and Use

  • By entering, you grant ACES a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your pictures:
    •  In the Festival exhibitions and displays
    • On the CCN website and other media platforms, as well as on the CCN partners ’websites and other media platforms
    • In educational and promotional materials
    •  In publications and media
  • ACES will always credit the photographer where possible.

5. Legal and Content Assurance

  • Under-18s require someone over 18 to register for the CCN community and load your photos.  For example, a parent, guardian, or school teacher.
  • You agree to indemnify ACES and its partners against any claims, disputes, or reputational damage resulting from your submission. Including, but not limited to:
    • Copyright infringement
    • Use of offensive or illegal imagery
    • Violations of privacy
    • Defamation or contempt

6. Final Notes

These rules are subject to change in case of unforeseen circumstances; any changes will be communicated publicly.

Enter after you receive your thermometers at the Festival of Cooling Schools day, on 8th October.

What do you need to do?

  1. Put the thermometer in your fridge and take a photo of it, showing the temperature of the fridge.
  2. Then take some photos (4 max) of the inside of the fridge to show us how your food is stored.
  3. Finally, get an adult to upload your images.

What happens if I miss the festival?

If you or your school can't attend the Festival of Cooling, you can still enter. Email us, including the name and address of your school, your class, and your name at [email protected], and we will send your school a thermometer pack.
