Picture of the week: UK-Rwanda Climate Partnership Conference
Cooling and cold-chains took centre stage at the UK-Rwanda Climate Partnership Conference, held this week at ACES. Rwanda is positioning itself as a regional hub for sustainable cooling and cold-chain systems. ACES if focused on developing energy-efficient, low-carbon cold-chains to reduce food loss, boosting agricultural income, and improving health services across Africa through research, technology demonstration, and training.
The conference brought together over 150 leaders from government, finance, industry, academia, and development and private sector players to address one of Africa's most persistent yet overlooked challenges: the lack of reliable cold-chain systems, which continues to drive post-harvest losses, limit access to healthcare, and constrain trade across the continent. Hon. Dr Bernadette Arakwiye (pictured) Rwanda's Minister of Environment, who attended the conference said: "Reducing post-harvest loss is one of the fastest ways to increase farmer incomes and strengthen food security.”
The conference received lots of press coverage from the Rwandan media. Click here to read the full article in The New Times about the conference.
