Picture of the Week: Street Vendor in Rwanda
This photo of a female street vendor in Kigali, Rwanda, was taken by Caroline Namara, a student who has completed the ACES Visual Storytelling course.
Caroline says: "What caught my eye was the story behind the women who were selling the sweet potatoes, to sustain their families and how they come out every day with hope that someone will come and buy from them…most people prefer going to the market rather than on the roadside. It wasn’t easy to shoot, mostly because of the positioning, it was on a highway and I wanted to get a shot with both them and the customer, it was a bit tricky honestly. I talked to the ladies, we chatted a bit about their work and I later bought some potatoes from them."
Caroline’s work, plus the work of all CCN photography students, is available on the CCN Media Library.
The media library provides a curated, open-access library of cold-chain-related images. Developed in collaboration with the London-based picture agency Panos Pictures, it will serve to bring the work of CCN-trained photographers to the attention of major international media outlets.
