Picture of the week: Portrait of Clarisse Mukandayambaje

This week's Picture of the week features Clarisse Mukandayambaje, Production Manager at VIVA DNL Ltd and a trained refrigeration technician, captured in an environmental portrait. Clarisse completed the 10-day introductory refrigeration training at ACES and was selected for the upcoming 2026 Train-the-Trainer (TTT) programme for her exceptional performance and dedication.

At VIVA DNL Ltd, she supports the production of ginger-based beverages known as (KAMBUCA), applying her cold-chain skills to ensure efficient cooling, product quality, and smooth production processes.

Her story highlights the increasing leadership of women in Rwanda’s refrigeration and cold-chain sector, balancing technical expertise with her role as a mother and industry professional.

"In this picture she is breastfeeding her third child. I photographed Clarisse before, holding her daughter at Rubirizi campus when she attended a 10 day introduction course to refrigeration. The baby grew a lot since I saw her last!" says ACES staff photographer, Mireille Isimbi.

"Clarisse is a real role model for me. She is so active. When she is not producing Kambuca, she's making liquid soap and shampoo. Not to forget she’s got two more children! She’s a star!".
