Caroline recounts: "Musabyimana Cyprien, a small-scale farmer and member of Tuzamurane Cooperative in Karembo sector, Ngoma district. Cyprien grows bell peppers, tomatoes, green beans, carrots, cabbage, passion fruits, and eggplants to support his family.

His biggest challenge? Watching 80% of their crops get destroyed by insects, despite spending money on pesticides that only partially work. Even when they manage a good harvest like these bell peppers, finding buyers remains nearly impossible.

I wanted to capture this contradiction in the photograph using a beautiful backdrop of trees that lead to the greenhouse. The image shows both his skill as a farmer and the frustration of working so hard for crops that might not find a market. His expression tells the whole story: the satisfaction of growing something this good, mixed with the uncertainty of whether it will actually provide for his family."
