We seek a skilled Convenings and Events Manager who can orchestrate these diverse formats to foster partnerships, influence policy, and inspire action that leads to real-world results as well as add reputational value to the CCN through the quality of its events.

Position Overview

As the CCN’s Convenings and Events Manager, you will support and catalyse the programmatic teams to use convenings to advance programmatic objectives. You will provide the day-to-day management of the convening and events programmes, including programme design, relationship engagement and outreach, due diligence and impact-tracking.

Your overarching goal is to ensure that the CCN is using convening and events as a strategic tool to drive impact for our programmatic teams and our network. You will design and execute targeted, outcome-oriented gatherings -virtual and in-person, that catalyse tangible results such as policy commitments, tangible engagement, funding, and cross-sector collaborations.  In short, your role will be essential in creating an ecosystem where knowledge-sharing leads directly to measurable progress in the clean cooling landscape.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee and choreograph the vision, logistical planning and execution of events to ensure all elements of come together seamlessly and to a high-level of excellence and impact.  This will include overseeing all aspects of event production, from pre-planning through on-site execution and post-event wrap-up and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain an approved budget for each event and track expenditures working with procurement and finance departments in a timely and rigorous manner.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans that identify all deliverables, milestones, and required tasks, and manage progress with assigned responsible parties for each.
  • Working with the finance and procurement teams, manage and coordinate all event vendors and partners, including but not limited to: clients, venue staff, caterers, audio/visual providers, etc, while ensuring high quality output and adherence to terms.
  • Coordinate with speakers on content and logistics to make their involvement seamless.
  • Contribute to agenda creation, ensuring event content meets organisational goals.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with partners to generate additional and future event support.
  • Create playbooks for event production and toolkits for speakers.
  • Make recommendations to enhance the attendee experience.
  • Coordinate with marketing and communications teams on event promotion and post-event content distribution
  • Lead post-event follow-up, tracking commitments, and converting discussions into tangible outcomes.
  • Use success metrics and impact assessments to continually improve convening strategies and maximise results.

Additional Strategic Responsibilities

  • Leverage communities of practice as a core tool for ongoing engagement, knowledge exchange, and collective problem-solving among sector actors
  • Help lay the groundwork for expansion into additional convening channels such as podcasts, social media live events, etc.
  • Develop agendas focused on driving concrete outcomes—policy influence, partnership agreements, investment commitments, and innovative project collaborations.
  • Facilitate dynamic dialogues to foster consensus and action-oriented results, ensuring each convening advances strategic objectives.
  • Build and nurture relationships with a diverse network of policymakers, industry leaders, technical experts, and civil society through various engagement modalities.
Skills & Experience
  • Extensive experience in designing and managing high-impact convenings across multiple formats - physical, virtual, and hybrid -including conferences, workshops, and online communities.
  • Proven ability to produce events that lead to concrete outcomes such as policy changes, partnerships, or funding commitments.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and client-focused, hospitality-driven approach.
  • Excellent verbal  and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems calmly; and make decisions quickly under pressure.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to coordinate complex logistics, vendors and diverse stakeholder groups and stay within budget.
  • Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms and online engagement tools.
  • Ideally, you will have experience in sectors such as climate change, sustainable development, clean energy, environmental policy, or related fields.

 

A degree in fields, such as Environmental Science, Climate Policy, Sustainable Development, Public Policy, International Relations, Management, Communication, or related disciplines is highly desirable.

Professional certifications / training in event management, project management, or stakeholder engagement are advantageous.
